Meet The Designer
I have loved to draw since I was a kid, and even got in trouble for it in school at times when I was supposed to be paying attention( ooops). I live in Minnesota, and grew up in a family of teachers (both my parents taught for 35 years before retiring).
I have always loved creating things and have many hobbies. When we had our son in 1996, my hobbies came to a screeeeeeching halt basically! I started making and selling candles in about 1998 but it's very hard to fit 40+ pounds of wax slabs plus all the molds and other supplies in an apartment, so stopped making and selling them.
When our daughter came along in 2001 I decided I wanted to work from home and so I started doing daycare. For the 1st few years after that, I was able to find time to do some of my hobbies ( but not candle making, too messy), but drawing took a back seat (as it so often did after high school and such).
In my spare time now, I love to draw (of course), hand digitize, sew, embroidery, snowmobile, motorcycle (I grew up on snowmobiles and my dad's motorcycle. Snowmobiling.... doesn't happen much anymore. We sold our snowmobile a few years ago because of lack of snow each winter....of course, ever since, the winters here have had LOTS of snow.....figures) and I'm in Tae Kwon Do. Sometimes I make patterns for my Prim stitchery/stitchery, make hair bows, tutus, collect Elvis things, snowmen, gingers, sheep and snow globes.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Genealogy! I have been doing genalolgy for over 12 years. I have done DNA Genealogy on both my parents, am a member of Tent #1 of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 in MN, I make donations to Civil War Trust to help save Civil War Battlefields so that future generations may learn 1st hand about the Civil War. I have, as many do, ancestors who fought in the war on both sides. I'm a member of my local historical society also.
In 2003 or 2004 I found a graphics program and decided to open a few Cafepress stores and started making some of my own artwork/wordart, but rarely used them back then. I mainly used other people's artwork (with permission).
In about 2007 or 2008 I opened a few stores at Zazzle and in August of 2009 I opened Whimsy Doodle Graphics. I then started using a graphics program I had bought the year before and liked that much better. Running my store has been such a rewarding experience for me. I have met soo many awesome people and awesome store owners!
I put many many hours these days into making my own artwork and LOVE it (I'm such an inner perfectionist, that even though something I make probably looks good (in reality), I'm very very picky with each item I make, and it's not uncommon for me to redo something from scratch. I can't help it lol)! I also carry the artwork of MANY very talented Artists here!
I am truly blessed to be able to have my graphics store and my other stores and be able to work at home! I hope you enjoy my artwork and the artwork of the other fabulous artists I carry!
